Frequently Asked Questions

The most common problems involve the .Net Framework 2.0 installation.  For more information, click on the support link at the top of the page.

I have installed the .net CF 2.0 on my pda, yet the msi installer still asks for 2.0!

The msi installer requires the desktop version of .net 2.0 to run.   If you dont want to install this now, download the cab version of Webby Mobile.

I run the Webby.exe executable and nothing happens

This is because .net framework 2.0 is not installed on your pda correctly.   Try installing it.

The .net CF 2.0 wont install on my pda

I recommend backing up your pda, doing a cold reset, then trying webby.  If it works, your pda can install it, but likely there's not enough room with your normal config to make it work.  If you find you like Webby, I recommend reinstalling your other programs after the cold reset.

Additionally some devices won't support .net CF 2.0, such as Windows Mobile 2002 devices and some Smartphones (see Not Supported list above)

Why must I install .net CF 2.0 SP1?

This browser is targetted at the new generation of mobile devices that will have .net 2.0 by default.  It gives me extra features and makes the software quicker to develop.  I think the issue with installing 2.0 will fade as more people get these devices.

If you check back now and then you'll see more useful software on this site that will use .net cf 2.0 SP1

The Compact Framework 2.0 takes up about 5 megs of memory.  What should I do?

It is strongly recommended that you install the .net framework on your external storage card.  This will prevent the .net framework from using up that precious internal memory.

Compact Framework 2.0 SP1 gives the option to do this on a storage card.  This version is recommended.
